IMD issues thunderstorm and lightning warning for several Odisha districts

Bhubaneswar, Feb 21: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted thunderstorms with lightning in isolated places over the districts of Balasore, Mayurbhanj, and Bhadrak tomorrow.
As per the latest weather forecast, thunderstorms are likely to occur at one or two locations in these districts. The IMD has urged residents to remain cautious and take necessary precautions against sudden weather changes.
For February 23, the regional weather office has issued an orange warning for Bhadrak, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, and Balasore, predicting thunderstorms with lightning, hail, and gusty surface winds reaching speeds of 40-50 kmph. These districts are expected to witness intense weather activity.
Additionally, a yellow warning has been issued for Sundargarh, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Boudh, Nayagarh, Khurda, Puri, Jharsuguda, and Sambalpur, indicating the possibility of thunderstorms with lightning.
The IMD has advised people to take shelter during thunderstorms, avoid open areas, and follow traffic advisories in urban regions. Farmers have been specifically instructed to use hail nets to protect their crops and vegetables from potential hail damage.
