Odisha Congress launches ‘Sankalpa Padayatra’ from Bhubaneswar to Puri

Bhubaneswar, Feb 18: In a bid to strengthen its grassroots presence, the Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) launched the ‘Sankalpa Padayatra’ from Bhubaneswar to Puri on Tuesday. The march aims to reconnect with old party leaders and workers while revitalizing the party’s cadre ahead of upcoming elections.
OPCC President Bhakta Charan Das has constituted a special committee to oversee the initiative, with former MLA Debasis Patnaik leading the efforts.
The padayatra commenced at 10 AM from Biju Patnaik International Airport, covering key locations like Shishu Bhavan, Rajmahal, Kalpana Square, and Ravi Talkies Square before reaching Lingipur by 1 PM. The march paused for a lunch break before resuming towards Pipili, where the participants planned to halt for the night.
The second phase of the march is set to begin on February 20 from Chandanpur, culminating at Bata Mangala for lunch. Later, Bhakta Charan Das will visit Jagannath Temple in Puri to seek blessings.
Congress leaders believe this initiative will strengthen the party’s grassroots network and revive enthusiasm among workers ahead of electoral battles.
