Odisha government extends e-KYC deadline for ration card holders until March 31

Bhubaneswar, Feb 15: The Odisha government has extended the deadline for ration card holders to update their e-KYC under the food security program until March 31, 2025. The announcement was made by Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare Minister Krushna Chandra Patra on Saturday, citing network issues in remote areas as the primary reason for the extension.
"Over 30 lakh people have not been able to complete their e-KYC due to poor connectivity. With this extended deadline, beneficiaries will now have more time to update their details and continue receiving food security benefits," Minister Patra stated.
According to government data, nearly 90% of beneficiaries have already completed their e-KYC process, while many ineligible cardholders have voluntarily returned their ration cards. To address network issues, new connectivity devices are being installed at 341 locations across Odisha. Reports indicate that 230 areas still lack network access, while 111 areas are struggling with slow internet speeds.
The Minister also urged ineligible beneficiaries to surrender their ration cards voluntarily to avoid potential legal action.
