Odisha records season’s highest temperature as mercury soars to 37°C in Jharsuguda

Bhubaneswar, Feb 13: Odisha witnessed its hottest day of the season so far, with Jharsuguda recording a scorching 37°C on Wednesday, as per the India Meteorological Department (IMD). Several other districts also experienced a significant rise in temperatures, signaling an early onset of summer-like conditions.
According to reports, Bhadrak recorded 36.2°C, followed by Balangir at 36°C, Angul at 35.7°C, and Bhubaneswar at 34.8°C. The twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack also felt the heat, with temperatures hovering around 34.8°C and 33.2°C, respectively.
The sudden temperature spike has caused discomfort among residents, prompting concerns about an early summer. However, the Regional Meteorological Centre in Bhubaneswar has predicted a drop in minimum temperatures by 3-5°C over the next four days. Despite this short-term relief, no major changes in night temperatures are expected thereafter.
The weather department has advised people to stay hydrated and take necessary precautions against the heat. Officials have also urged vulnerable groups, including children and the elderly, to avoid prolonged sun exposure during peak hours.
