Odisha announces salary hike for junior teachers; effective immediately

Bhubaneswar, Feb 12: The Odisha government on Wednesday announced a significant hike in the remuneration of Junior Teachers (Schematic) working in elementary schools across the state under the Samagra Sikshya Scheme.
As per the latest decision, the monthly salary of Junior Teachers engaged in primary and upper primary schools has been increased from ₹11,100 to ₹16,000. A resolution issued by the School and Mass Education Department on February 12 confirmed that the revised pay structure will be applicable to all such teachers across the state. The salary enhancement will come into effect immediately from the date of the resolution's issuance.
This decision was earlier approved by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi in January as part of efforts to improve teachers' financial well-being and motivation. Currently, 13,740 Junior Teachers (Schematic) are employed in Odisha, and the state government will bear an additional expenditure of ₹89.15 crore to accommodate the salary hike.
In addition to the pay revision, the government has also increased its contribution to the Employees’ Provident Fund (EPF) for these teachers. The state’s contribution has been raised from ₹1,443 to ₹1,950 per teacher, further enhancing their financial security.
