Jewellery and cash stolen from Bhubaneswar wedding venue by fake guests

Bhubaneswar, Feb 3: In a shocking incident, two unidentified miscreants posed as wedding guests and stole jewellery and cash worth lakhs from a banquet hall in the Maitri Vihar police station area on Sunday evening.
According to reports, a doctor couple was hosting their daughter's wedding at the banquet hall. As the marriage procession arrived, the two accused entered the venue, pretending to be part of the groom’s side. They parked their vehicle outside and mingled with the crowd.
One of the miscreants joined the bride’s photoshoot, while the other remained under the dais, keeping watch. Taking advantage of the crowd, the accused near the bride discreetly stole a gift bag containing cash and valuables, which had been placed by the bride’s mother. The duo quickly escaped before anyone noticed.
The theft came to light when the bride’s family realized the bag was missing. They reported the incident to the police, stating that cash worth ₹2.5 lakh and jewellery, including gold and diamonds, valued at over ₹10 lakh, had been stolen.
Police officials reviewed CCTV footage from the venue and have launched an investigation to identify and apprehend the culprits.
