Three killed as ambulance collides with dumper in Bhadrak

Bhubaneswar, Feb 1: In a tragic incident, three people lost their lives, and another sustained serious injuries when an ambulance collided with a dumper from the rear near Maitapur on National Highway-16 in Odisha’s Bhadrak district on Saturday.
According to sources, Dibakar Jena, a resident of Palasia village under Bhogarai police station, had been undergoing treatment at SCB Medical College and Hospital. Following his demise, his son, son-in-law, and daughter-in-law were transporting his body back home in the ambulance when the fatal accident occurred.
The deceased have been identified as Dibakar’s son Sanjay Jena, son-in-law Sudhanshu Dalai, and the ambulance driver Dilip Singh. Sanjay’s mother, Savitri Jena, was critically injured and is currently receiving treatment at Bhadrak District Headquarters Hospital.
Upon hearing of the incident, Bhadrak MLA Sanjib Mallick visited the hospital to meet the grieving family and expressed his condolences. Authorities have launched an investigation into the accident, urging drivers to maintain caution on highways to prevent such mishaps.
