Retired Army Colonel dies after being struck by speeding vehicle in Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar, Feb 1: In a tragic incident, a retired Army Colonel, identified as Rabindra Kumar Behera (64), was killed after being struck by a speeding vehicle in the Niladri Vihar area of Bhubaneswar on Saturday.
Preliminary reports indicate that the accident occurred around 5:30 AM near Shani Temple, as Behera was returning home from a morning walk. A qualified doctor by profession, he resided in Defence Colony within Niladri Vihar. Following the collision, Behera was critically injured and left bleeding on the roadside, while the vehicle responsible for the accident fled the scene.
Locals rushed to his aid and transported him to Capital Hospital, but unfortunately, he was pronounced dead upon arrival. Authorities promptly informed his family members, and a post-mortem examination was subsequently conducted.
A police team arrived at the scene to register a case and has initiated an investigation to identify the vehicle and its driver. Officers are currently reviewing CCTV footage from the area in hopes of locating the responsible party and bringing them to justice.
