Eastern India: The growth engine of India, Odisha emerging as business hub – PM Modi
Bhubaneswar, Jan 28: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, while inaugurating the two-day Utkarsh Odisha 2025 Conclave in Bhubaneswar on Tuesday, described eastern India as the country’s growth engine and projected Odisha as the business hub of the region.
Lauding the state for hosting the event, Modi stated, “I congratulate Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi and his team for organizing the largest business conclave so far. Utkarsh Odisha Conclave 2025 is five to six times larger than previous business meets. Such initiatives are vital for driving development and attracting investments.”
Modi highlighted the crucial role of eastern India in the nation’s economic growth, especially as a hub for trade with Southeast Asia. “Odisha historically played a pivotal role in India’s global trade contributions, with its ports acting as gateways to Southeast Asia. The Bali Yatra festival in Cuttack reflects this legacy,” he added.
The Prime Minister expressed optimism about Odisha reclaiming its status as a major trade and cultural hub in the 21st century. He noted Singapore’s growing interest in collaborating with Odisha and the ASEAN nations’ efforts to strengthen ties with the state.
Discussing infrastructure development, Modi emphasized the importance of multi-modal connectivity projects in Odisha. With massive investments in railways, highways, and ports, Odisha is positioned to lead India’s blue economy and reduce industrial logistics costs, he remarked.
