Retired IAS Madhusudan Padhi appointed State Election Commissioner
Bhubaneswar, Jan 27: The Odisha Government has appointed retired IAS officer Madhusudan Padhi as the State Election Commissioner. The announcement was made on Monday through a notification issued by the Panchayati Raj & Drinking Water Department.
The official notification stated, “In pursuance of clause (1) of Article 243-K of the Constitution of India, the Governor of Odisha is pleased to appoint Shri Madhusudan Padhi, IAS (Retd.), as State Election Commissioner, Odisha.”
Madhusudan Padhi, known for his distinguished career in public administration, brings vast experience and expertise to his new role. As State Election Commissioner, Padhi will oversee and ensure free, fair, and transparent elections in Odisha, including Panchayat and municipal polls. His appointment is in line with constitutional provisions, which mandate the independence and impartiality of the Election Commission.
