Odisha CM buys first ticket for India-England ODI at Barabati
Bhubaneswar, Jan 22: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Wednesday purchased the first ticket for the upcoming India-England One Day International (ODI) match, scheduled to be held at the Barabati Stadium in Cuttack on February 9. The gesture symbolized the state’s enthusiasm for hosting this significant cricketing event.
The ticket was presented to the Chief Minister by the acting president of the Odisha Cricket Association (OCA), Pankaj Lochan Mohanty, along with OCA secretary Sanjay Behera, other OCA members, and Angul MLA Pratap Pradhan. This marked the official kickoff of ticket distribution for the much-awaited match.
Earlier in the day, OCA Secretary Sanjay Behera visited the Puri Srimandir to offer the first ticket to Lord Jagannath, seeking the deity's blessings for the successful hosting of the event. The presentation was attended by the Puri District Sports Association secretary and Srimandir servitors, adding a spiritual dimension to the occasion.
The India-England ODI is expected to draw massive crowds, reaffirming Odisha’s reputation as a prominent cricketing destination.
