Odisha to witness cold wave from January 20, IMD forecasts dip in night temperatures
Bhubaneswar, Jan 15: Odisha is set to experience a cold wave starting January 20, with night temperatures predicted to drop by 2-3 degrees Celsius, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
The regional IMD center forecasts that most areas in the state will see temperatures ranging from 13 to 15 degrees Celsius. Additionally, dense fog is expected to blanket several districts, including Jharsuguda, Keonjhar, Sambalpur, Sundergarh, Cuttack, Khordha, Puri, Ganjam, and Gajapati, on Wednesday and Thursday.
The IMD’s predictions also indicate the possibility of extended periods of fog, reducing visibility and potentially affecting transportation.
On Monday, Daringibadi recorded the lowest temperature at 9.5 degrees Celsius, followed by Phulbani at 11.5 degrees Celsius, Rourkela at 11.7 degrees Celsius, and Bhadrak at 12 degrees Celsius.
Residents are advised to take precautions to stay warm as the cold wave grips the state. Authorities have also issued advisories for farmers to safeguard crops from potential frost damage.
