Odisha Government to sponsor national Kho Kho team

Bhubaneswar, Jan 6: The Odisha Government on Monday unveiled a groundbreaking three-year sponsorship agreement for the Indian National Kho Kho team, underscoring its dedication to promoting indigenous sports in India.
Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi announced an annual investment of ₹5 crore from January 2025 to December 2027, funded by the Odisha Mining Corporation. The total sponsorship of ₹15 crore highlights Odisha’s commitment to nurturing sports, building on its successful collaboration with Hockey India.
“This marks a historic moment for Kho Kho in India. Supporting indigenous sports preserves our cultural legacy and opens new avenues for athletes,” said CM Majhi. “Just as Odisha revitalized Indian hockey, we aspire to do the same for Kho Kho, making the state a cornerstone of sporting excellence.”
Sudhanshu Mittal, President of the Kho Kho Federation of India (KKFI), praised the initiative, calling it a turning point for the sport. He emphasized that Odisha’s support would enhance athlete development and raise Kho Kho’s profile internationally.
