Tigress Zeenat eludes capture as GPS failures hinder tracking

Bhubaneswar, Dec 28: The tigress Zeenat has reportedly reached the West Bengal border, but her exact location remains elusive due to GPS tracking issues in some areas. According to Forest and Environment Minister Ganesh Ram Singhkhuntia, GPS technology has failed in several regions, complicating efforts to monitor her movements.
Speaking to the media, Minister Singhkhuntia stated that the forest departments of West Bengal, Jharkhand, and Odisha are collaboratively tracking Zeenat using GPS and are working to tranquilize and capture her.
“The forest departments of all three states are closely monitoring her movements with GPS, and every effort is being made to safely capture her,” the minister said.
He acknowledged that the failure of GPS systems in certain areas has made tracking more challenging. “In many locations, GPS is not functioning properly, which allows Zeenat to move into other areas undetected. However, we remain committed to capturing her and will succeed in the near future,” he added.
