Four women arrested for assaulting police officer in Mayurbhanj district

Bhubaneswar, Dec 27: Kaptipada police have arrested four women for allegedly assaulting the Inspector-In-Charge (IIC) of the police station, Prakash Rath, during a raid on an illegal sand storage facility in the Dahisahi area of Mayurbhanj district.
The incident occurred on December 18 when Rath led a team to the site following reports of illegal sand storage. Upon arrival, he was ambushed by individuals linked to the sand mafia. The attackers, including the accused women, reportedly pelted stones at the officer, causing injuries and damaging his vehicle.
Acting on a tip-off, a police team arrived at the location and rescued Rath, who was immediately taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Following the incident, four women from Dahisahi and Gohira villages were arrested for their involvement in the attack. Meanwhile, two key suspects, believed to have orchestrated the assault, remain at large. Efforts are underway to apprehend the absconding accused, and an investigation is ongoing.
