Forest Department rescues 19-foot python near Bhitarkanika
Bhubaneswar, Dec 21: The forest department successfully rescued a 19-foot-long adult Indian rock python that had wandered into Rajendra Narayanpur village, near Bhitarkanika National Park in Kendrapara district, on Friday. The massive snake had strayed from the protected forest area of the park and found itself in a nearby cropland, raising concerns among local residents.
Upon spotting the large python, villagers immediately alerted the forest officials, who responded promptly to the situation. The Divisional Forest Officer reported, “We have successfully rescued a massive injured snake, which is now receiving specialized care and treatment from veterinarians at Bhitarkanika’s wildlife enclosure. Following its recovery, the snake will be safely released back into its natural habitat.”
This operation marks a significant achievement for the forest department, as it is the largest snake rescue operation they have conducted to date. The team is committed to ensuring the well-being of the snake and maintaining the ecological balance in the area by returning the python to its natural environment after treatment.
