Discipline enhanced at Ananda Bazaar with new dress code and security measures

Bhubaneswar, Dec 19: In a bid to enhance discipline and decorum at the Shree Jagannath Temple’s Ananda Bazaar, the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) has introduced a dress code for servitors. From December 25, Supakara servitors engaged in the sale of Mahaprasad will wear saffron-colored uniforms, as per the decision by Suara Mahasuara Niyog with SJTA’s approval. This initiative aims to promote uniformity and professionalism among servitors.
In a prior move, SJTA deployed 20 retired army personnel at Ananda Bazaar to ensure security and sanctity. These personnel, in civil attire, work in two shifts—from 6:00 AM to 10:00 AM and 2:00 PM to 10:00 PM—overseeing servitors and devotees. Their duties include ensuring the sale of fresh Mahaprasad, monitoring servitors’ behavior, and maintaining order.
Additionally, servitors selling Anna Mahaprasad and Sukhila Mahaprasad are now allowed one assistant each to aid their work. These measures aim to improve discipline, organization, and the overall experience for devotees visiting the temple.
