Bhubaneswar, Dec 17: A tragic incident occurred at AIIMS Bhubaneswar on Monday, where the body of a 70-year-old patient was found hanging from a ceiling fan in the orthopedic ward. The deceased has been identified as Dilip Kumar Sahu from Atalpur village in Jajpur district.

Sahu had been admitted to the hospital on December 5 for treatment. Preliminary reports suggest he may have ended his life due to frustration over his prolonged illness. However, the exact cause is yet to be confirmed as the police investigate the matter.

The incident has sparked allegations of negligence. Sahu’s daughter accused the nursing staff of carelessness, claiming that her father’s suicide could have been prevented. “My father lost his life because the hospital staff were not vigilant at night,” she alleged.

The police, along with a scientific team, have begun a thorough investigation into the incident. Meanwhile, questions regarding patient care and security protocols at AIIMS Bhubaneswar are being raised.
