Burglars loot retired IAS officer’s ancestral home in Odisha

Bhubaneswar, Dec 16: A group of burglars broke into the ancestral house of retired IAS officer Bijay Nayak in Haladharbindha, Budanga village under Tihidi police limits, stealing valuables worth lakhs, including gold jewelry, cash, a TV, and an inverter, on Sunday.
Reports indicate that Nayak and his family were away for 2-3 days attending a program when the incident occurred. A tenant residing in the house was also absent at the time. The burglars allegedly gained entry by twisting open the metal grills of the gate.
“I wasn’t present, as I usually stay away during such programs. When I returned, I discovered the theft. The burglars took gold worth ₹1.5 lakh, ₹20,000 in cash, a TV, and an inverter. Such acts endanger all residents,” the tenant stated.
Tihidi police, alerted by a relative of Nayak, promptly reached the scene. Inspector-in-Charge Prasanna Kumar Nayak confirmed that a scientific team has been deployed to aid in the investigation.
