Burglars loot duplex in Bhubaneswar’s outskirts, police launch probe

Bhubaneswar, Dec 14: A group of four burglars allegedly broke into a duplex in a residential complex under Pahala police limits on Friday night, stealing gold jewelry, diamonds, silver, and cash worth approximately Rs 40 lakh.
The burglary occurred at the home of a family preparing for their daughter’s wedding. Reports suggest the miscreants targeted the duplex in the Citi Homes complex in Pahala’s Tiranapada while the family members were away attending to wedding-related tasks.
The burglars not only looted valuables meant for the wedding but also damaged the CCTV system, stealing the cameras to cover their tracks. The family promptly reported the crime to the Pahala police, who recovered footage from the Digital Video Recorder (DVR) and initiated an investigation.
This incident highlights a rise in burglary and theft cases in the capital city, particularly in peripheral areas like Pahala, Chandaka, and Airfield. Similar crimes have been reported in these regions over the past month, raising concerns about security in residential neighborhoods.
