Bhubaneswar, Dec 13: Renowned athlete Dutee Chand narrowly escaped injury after a truck collided with her BMW near OMP Square in Cuttack city. The incident occurred while Dutee was returning to Bhubaneswar from Jajpur with a friend. Although the car sustained significant damage, Dutee and her companion were unharmed.

Demonstrating remarkable presence of mind, Dutee chased the fleeing truck and intercepted it near the Kathajori Bridge. She then alerted Madhupatna Police, who promptly arrived at the scene and detained the truck driver for questioning.

Recounting the incident, Dutee alleged that the truck driver behaved recklessly and insulted her. “The truck driver honked aggressively near OMP Square. Despite giving him way, he intentionally rammed into my car and fled. I pursued him to Kathajori Bridge and contacted the police,” she said.

The police are investigating the case, while Dutee has called for strict action, emphasizing the need for road safety and accountability. This incident highlights the dangers posed by negligent driving.
