Bhubaneswar, Dec 13: Tikayatpali Police have detained four individuals in connection with the murder of a seven-month pregnant woman, Soumyamayee Behera, in Sundargarh district on Wednesday.

According to reports, the tragic incident occurred when two youths knocked on the door of Soumyamayee's home. As she answered, the assailants forcibly snatched her gold chain and mangalsutra. When she resisted and raised an alarm, the attackers shot her at close range, resulting in her death.

The police, intensifying their investigation, detained four persons on Friday, including Soumyamayee’s husband, Deben Behera, who is a police personnel, along with two others. While the motive remains unclear, police suspect that her husband may have been involved in orchestrating the crime.

The murder has left the local community in shock, with residents demanding swift justice. Tikayatpali Police are thoroughly investigating all angles to uncover the truth behind the brutal killing, which has shaken the district.
