Fatal bus-motorbike collision claims three lives in Dhenkanal

Bhubaneswar, Dec 10: Three labourers lost their lives in a tragic road accident near Khairamunda village on National Highway 53 under Parajang police limits in Odisha’s Dhenkanal district on Tuesday. The victims were identified as Sagar Pradhan, Pinu Sahu, and Sumant Parida, all residents of Naupalkateni village in Mundailo panchayat.
The accident occurred while the trio was traveling on a motorbike to Khairamunda for a rod-binding assignment. A passenger bus, Bholanath, collided with their vehicle, killing Sagar instantly. The other two labourers, Pinu and Sumant, were critically injured and rushed to the Dhenkanal District Headquarters Hospital (DHH), where they later succumbed to their injuries during treatment.
Following the incident, enraged locals blocked the Talcher-Duburi route, demanding compensation for the victims' families. The roadblock disrupted traffic, leaving vehicles stranded on both sides. Parajang police intervened to calm the protesters and clear the blockade. Authorities are investigating the accident and considering measures to address the crowd’s demands.
