Deputy CM slams opposition for misleading Mission Shakti protesters

Bhubaneswar, Dec 10: Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida on Tuesday urged Mission Shakti workers protesting outside the Odisha Assembly to remain calm and not be swayed by misinformation. Her appeal came in response to allegations by Leader of Opposition Naveen Patnaik, who accused the BJP-led state government of withholding the salaries of Mission Shakti workers.
Parida assured the protesters that the government is committed to addressing their concerns, including salary disbursements and other demands. She cautioned opposition parties against misleading the workers, emphasizing the government’s dedication to supporting women’s empowerment initiatives.
“The BJP government has always prioritized women’s welfare. We have raised this issue in the Assembly and will take necessary steps to resolve it. I urge the women to remain calm and trust the government to address their demands,” Parida stated.
Earlier, Patnaik criticized the government for allegedly stopping the salaries of around 60,000 Mission Shakti workers, who provide crucial support to women self-help groups across Odisha, calling it an act of negligence.
