Teacher narrowly escapes after e-scooter catches fire in Bhadrak

Bhubaneswar, Dec 3: In a shocking incident, a school teacher in Odisha’s Bhadrak district narrowly escaped with his life after his electric scooter caught fire on Tuesday. The mishap occurred when Parash Sahani, a teacher at Panchayat Kathidiha Primary School, was riding home after school hours.
Reports suggest that as Sahani started his scooter, it suddenly burst into flames, leaving him with severe burns on his face and body. Witnesses rushed to his aid and promptly transported him to a nearby medical facility for treatment.
The e-scooter, purchased in March 2022 for ₹95,000, was completely destroyed in the fire. The incident has raised serious concerns among locals regarding the safety of electric vehicles, particularly in rural areas where proper maintenance and safety checks may not be readily available.
The police, informed about the incident, have initiated an investigation to determine the cause of the fire. Authorities are expected to assess potential manufacturing defects or maintenance lapses.
