Odisha Cabinet Approves Amendment In Odisha University Act, 1989

The cabinet meeting held under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Saturday approved two important proposals. Chief Secretary Manoj Ahuja informed the media about the cabinet decision. The cabinet meeting today approved the amendment proposal in the Odisha University Act, 1989.
This amendment proposal is being approved as an important step towards strengthening the higher education system in Odisha. Mr. Ahuja said that this amendment has been made to ensure academic excellence, quality research in universities and to resolve the problems faced by maximum number of students in getting higher education.
The main aspects of the amendment are to improve the teacher recruitment process in universities, empower universities with more autonomy and maintain accountability and involve academic professionals in the process of faculty recruitment and selection of vice-chancellors.
By amending this law, the state government aims to simplify the teacher recruitment process and remove the stagnation in teacher recruitment due to court cases. These changes are designed to create a more transparent and time-bound system for hiring.
