Security forces seize arms in joint operation on Odisha-Chhattisgarh border

Bhubaneswar, Nov 22: In a major crackdown, security forces conducted a successful joint combing operation on the Odisha-Chhattisgarh border, seizing firearms and other Maoist materials from a Naxal camp in the Amada forest under Jugad police limits in Gariabandh district, Chhattisgarh. Acting on credible intelligence, the operation involved Chhattisgarh police’s DRG, Cobra 207 Battalion, SAF 211 and 65 Battalions, as well as Odisha’s SOG units from Nuapada and Nabarangpur districts.
During the operation on Friday, a fierce encounter broke out near Jinelguda in Malkangiri district, resulting in the death of a Naxal and injuring a jawan. The clash occurred as security personnel were crossing a river from Chhattisgarh into Odisha. Following the skirmish, a substantial cache of Naxal supplies, including arms, ammunition, and documents, was recovered from the site.
This operation underscores the ongoing efforts of security forces to neutralize Maoist influence in the region and ensure peace along the interstate border areas.
