Central Team To Visit Odisha On 24th To Access The Damage Caused By Cyclone DANA

Bhubaneswar: A seven-member central team will visit Odisha on the 24th to assess the damage caused by Cyclone Dana and subsequent floods in Odisha at the end of October. After visiting the affected Kendrapara, Bhadrak and Baleshwar districts, the Ministry of Internal Affairs team will stay in Odisha till 27th and hold talks with the senior officials of the state government, Revenue and Disaster Relief Minister Suresh Pujari informed the media.
Giving information in this regard, Minister Mr. Pujari said that the team to be led by Union Home Ministry's Joint Secretary PK Rai will visit Bhadrak, Balasore and Kendrapara districts on 25th and assess the damage. The three districts will be divided into three parts and will be visited. Revenue officials will accompany them. The concerned District Collector has also been informed in this regard. On the 26th, they will hold a meeting with the chief administrative secretary and senior officials at Lok Seva Bhawan. Later they are scheduled to meet Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi. The District Magistrates have been instructed to stay during the visit of the central team.
Minister Suresh Pujari informed that on the basis of the report of the central party, the central government will give the aid to the states. As Odisha faces natural calamities every year, special funds will be sought for permanent solutions to infrastructure damage. Mr. Pujari said that discussions are going on with the experts.
It is worth noting that in the late night of October 24 due to the impact of cyclone Dana, extensive damage was caused in Kendrapara, Bhadrak and Baleshwar districts. Along with this, 14 districts were also affected. Due to the impact of the storm, the heavy rains caused floods in various rivers and flooded the farmlands. According to the preliminary estimates of the state government, the loss of Rs. Based on this report, the state government provided Rs 423 crore assistance to the affected districts from the Natural Disaster Relief Fund.
