Spurious liquor linked to deaths of two men in Odisha

Bhubaneswar, Nov 20: Two persons reportedly died after consuming suspected spurious liquor at Shirasta village under Tirtol police limits, on Wednesday. The victims, identified as Bibhuti Samal and his uncle Gopabandhu Samal, residents of Shirasta, are believed to have died due to food poisoning caused by the consumption of contaminated alcohol, though the exact cause will be confirmed after the autopsy report.
Family members stated that after having dinner with alcohol the previous night, both men began complaining of severe chest and stomach pain. They were initially admitted to Patkura Community Health Centre for treatment. As their condition worsened, they were transferred to Kendrapara District Headquarters Hospital, where they succumbed to their injuries.
The bodies have been sent for autopsy to determine the precise cause of death. Meanwhile, the police have launched an investigation into the incident, focusing on the possible consumption of spurious liquor and to uncover the exact cause of their tragic demise.
