Farmer trampled to death while guarding paddy fields in Sambalpur

Bhubaneswar, Nov 18: In a tragic incident, a farmer was trampled to death by a tusker on Sunday night while guarding his agricultural field in Hatibari, Sambalpur district, Odisha. The victim has been identified as Ganesh Bhoi of Tengpada village.
According to reports, a herd of elephants has been invading paddy fields in the area nightly, causing widespread crop damage. On Sunday night, Ganesh went to protect his crops but encountered a tusker. The elephant attacked him, resulting in his death.
On Monday morning, villagers discovered Ganesh’s mutilated body in the field and informed his family and the Forest Department. Officials have launched an investigation into the incident.
The tragic death has sparked tension in the area, with villagers demanding compensation for Ganesh’s family and effective measures to protect them from recurring elephant attacks.
