Over ₹21 lakh stolen from Hyderabad firm recovered in Odisha village

Bhubaneswar, Nov 16: Police have recovered over ₹21 lakh, stolen by an employee of a Hyderabad-based agro-industry, from the backyard of a house in Badamandurini village under Kamarda police limits in Odisha’s Balasore district.
The accused, Gopal Behera, a resident of Badamandurini, had been working for the company in Hyderabad for around a decade. Using his knowledge of the company locker’s secret code, Gopal stole the cash and passed it to his brother-in-law, who later handed it over to Gopal’s parents in Jaleswar before returning to Hyderabad.
Acting on the theft complaint, Hyderabad police, with support from Kamarda police, raided the village and unearthed bundles of cash buried in Gopal’s backyard.
Although Gopal remains absconding, his brother-in-law Rabindra and mother-in-law have been detained for questioning. So far, ₹15 lakh of the stolen amount has been recovered, and the investigation is ongoing. Police continue their search for Gopal.
