CM announces new Vigilance Forensic Science Institute in Odisha

Bhubaneswar, Oct 28: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Monday announced the establishment of a Vigilance Forensic Science Institute to strengthen anti-corruption efforts in Odisha. The announcement was made during the inaugural function of the ‘Anti-Corruption Awareness Week’ celebrations at the Lok Seva Bhawan in Bhubaneswar.
Majhi also revealed plans to enhance the Odisha Vigilance force by inducting eight Superintendents of Police (SPs), eight Additional SPs, 24 Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs), and 16 Sub-Inspectors (SIs). To further improve efficiency, 24 specialists, including cyber experts, chartered accountants, and banking experts, will join the department soon. Additionally, Vigilance personnel will be equipped with 135 motorbikes and 160 desktops or laptops.
During the event, Koraput SP PK Dwivedi was awarded the Best Anti-Corruption Officer of 2023, and the Vigilance Unit of Bolangir was recognized for its performance. Other honorees included Dushmanth Nayak of Balasore Vigilance and DSP Shabitanchali Naik of the Berhampur Vigilance Division as the Best Investigating Officers (IOs). Hemant Kumar Swain, public prosecutor at the Vigilance Court, was recognized as the Best Public Prosecutor.
