Cyclone Dana damage assessment to be completed in seven days: Minister Pujari

Bhubaneswar, Oct 25: The damage assessment of crops and houses caused by Cyclone Dana is expected to conclude within seven days, as announced by Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Suresh Pujari.
Starting Sunday, field staff from the revenue, agriculture, and cooperative departments will begin on-site inspections to evaluate the extent of the damage, Pujari informed.
“Cyclone Dana has impacted multiple districts across Odisha, with strong winds and heavy rainfall disrupting normal life. Relief efforts are in progress to assist those affected,” said Pujari. He also confirmed that he would conduct a field visit on Saturday to personally assess the situation.
Pujari added, “Road clearance was completed within four hours. No telecom issues have been reported. While some areas faced power outages due to broken wires, electricity will be restored by sunset. Over six lakh people have been evacuated, and aid will be provided to anyone still stranded. Relief centers are offering food and shelter, and those ready to return home can notify the centers.”
