Ragging allegations surface at MKCG Medical College, probe underway

Bhubaneswar, Oct 25: A second-year MBBS student at MKCG Medical College in Berhampur has alleged ragging by senior students, prompting an investigation by the college’s Anti-Ragging Committee. Reports suggest that students from multiple hostels have faced physical and mental harassment by seniors.
The National Medical Council (NMC) has taken serious note of the complaints filed by the victims’ parents and directed the college Dean to conduct a thorough inquiry. The college administration has assured full cooperation and has established an internal committee to probe the allegations.
This incident follows a previous case of ragging involving second-year student Rudra Raut, who was assaulted a few months ago. As a result, the college took disciplinary action against four senior students.
Fourth-year students Stalin Mohapatra and Jyotiprakash Rout were suspended from campus for two months, ordered to vacate their hostel, and barred from attending classes. Meanwhile, Suryakant Nayak and Ramesh Sethi were instructed to leave their hostel and skip classes for two weeks for allegedly aiding the ragging.
