Minor killed, another injured in clash during Durga Puja procession in Odisha

Bhubaneswar, Oct 15: A tragic incident unfolded during the immersion procession of Goddess Durga in Nabarangpur, Odisha, on Monday night, resulting in the death of a minor and critical injuries to another. The deceased has been identified as 14-year-old Sahir Kiran Gadba, while 13-year-old Sahir Tejab Harijan was admitted to Nabarangpur District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) in critical condition.
Reports indicate that a quarrel broke out between two groups of children from Saurasahi and Ladhaharijan Sahi during the Durga Puja idol immersion. The altercation escalated when one minor attacked a member of the rival group with a knife. Sahir Kiran sustained severe stab wounds and tragically succumbed to his injuries while receiving treatment.
Nabarangpur Town police swiftly arrived at the scene to restore order and have detained one individual for questioning in connection with the violence. The community is left in shock as authorities investigate the circumstances surrounding this heartbreaking incident.
