Light rainfall forecast for Odisha during Durga Puja, IMD rules out heavy showers

Bhubaneswar, Oct 7: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast that Durga Puja festivities this year are unlikely to be disrupted by rain, with the sky expected to remain mostly clear throughout the week. According to the IMD's weather outlook for the next fortnight, overall rainfall during Durga Puja is predicted to be below normal.
Although the chances of heavy rainfall are low across Odisha, a few isolated areas may experience light to moderate showers between October 4 and 10. Similarly, light to moderate rainfall is expected in some regions from October 11 to 17.
The IMD also mentioned that a cyclonic circulation might form over the north Bay of Bengal near the Odisha and Andhra Pradesh coasts during the October 11-17 period, though it's unlikely to cause widespread rain.
Meanwhile, heavy rain was recorded on Sunday from Aska in Ganjam to Cuttack, and scattered showers are expected in different parts of the state on Monday.
