Judicial Commission calls for affidavits in Army officer assault case

Bhubaneswar, Oct 5: The Judicial Commission investigating the alleged misconduct of Bharatpur police towards an Indian Army officer and his fiancée issued notifications on Saturday. Headed by former High Court Judge, Justice Chittaranjan Dash, the Commission has invited open affidavits from stakeholders, including the complainants, police, and the general public, to collect information and evidence regarding the incident.
The Commission has begun its work at the Special Circuit House office in Bhubaneswar, with Odisha DGP YB Khurania and other senior officials present during the initiation of the probe.
This inquiry was ordered by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi following a national outcry over the alleged custodial assault on the Army Captain and his girlfriend. The Commission is expected to submit its findings to the government within 60 days.
