Orissa HC pushes for sustainable Dussehra with eco-friendly Ravan Podi
Bhubaneswar, Oct 5: In a move to promote eco-friendly Dussehra celebrations, the Orissa High Court has banned the traditional firecracker competition during the Ravan Podi event. This decision comes as part of an effort to reduce environmental pollution and noise during the much-anticipated festival in Cuttack.
The High Court, responding to recommendations from the Advocate Committee, has advised using eco-friendly color crackers instead of the conventional polluting ones. This significant shift is aimed at making the celebrations more sustainable.
The court has also directed the Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC) and local authorities to prepare the Bali Yatra ground for the Ravan Podi by October 10. The preparations are essential for ensuring a smooth and successful celebration of the iconic event, a highlight of Cuttack's Dussehra festivities.
Additionally, the Cuttack Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) has been instructed to implement strict traffic regulations to minimize congestion and ensure public safety throughout the event.
