Bhubaneswar, Oct 3: In a disturbing incident, villagers in Balibo village under Bhuban police limits in Odisha's Dhenkanal district discovered the half-naked body of a middle-aged woman in a well on Thursday morning. The deceased has been identified as Basanti Raut, aged 40.

Reports indicate that a group of village women, who went to fetch water, found Basanti's body floating in the well. Alarmed, they quickly notified other villagers, as well as the police and Fire Services personnel. The Fire Services team later recovered Basanti’s body from the well.

Following the discovery, police detained Basanti’s husband, Pradhan, and launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding her death. As of now, it remains unclear whether Basanti fell into the well accidentally or if foul play was involved. According to local information, Basanti was Pradhan's second wife, raising further questions about the circumstances of her tragic demise. The investigation is ongoing, with authorities seeking to uncover the truth behind this unsettling incident.
