Bhubaneswar, Sept 30: A Plus II second-year student from Bhabanipatna Ghoroi Binayak College in Bhawanipatna suffered critical injuries in an alleged ragging incident on Sunday night.

According to a police complaint filed by the victim’s father, Kamal Bag, his son Ankesh Bag was assaulted by his classmates and then pushed from the second floor of the hostel building. Reports suggest that Ankesh was attacked inside the hostel room by a group of classmates, who also filmed the assault before allegedly pushing him from the second floor.

Ankesh was rescued by the college authorities and rushed to the Kalahandi District Headquarters Hospital in critical condition.

Speaking to the media, Ankesh revealed that ragging was rampant in the hostel, with students frequently being tortured and beaten for money and food. He further alleged that some students smuggle liquor into the hostel and consume it regularly.
