Five workers sustain severe burns in Rourkela Steel Plant blast

Bhubaneswar, Sept 28: In a significant accident at the Rourkela Steel Plant, five employees, including an official, were injured following an explosion at the SMS-1 unit on Saturday morning. The incident occurred around 9:00 am, resulting in severe burn injuries caused by hot molten steel. Among the injured are two permanent employees, a contractual worker, and an officer.
The victims were promptly rushed to Ispat General Hospital, where they are currently receiving treatment. Reports indicate that their injuries are critical but stable.
Although the cause of the explosion remains unclear, no official statement has been issued by the plant authorities regarding the circumstances leading to the accident.
