Bhubaneswar, Sept 23: Mangalpur police detained a constable from the Rambag outpost for allegedly harassing and assaulting a nurse living within their jurisdiction in Jajpur district on Sunday night. The accused constable, identified as Jitendra Biswal, hails from Garadhia village under Sasua panchayat.

Reports indicate that Biswal had been making unwanted advances towards the nurse, Puspanjali Nayak, for over a year, despite her repeated rejections. On Sunday night, Biswal reportedly forced his way into Nayak’s home and made another proposal. When she declined, he allegedly assaulted and molested her.

Following the incident, Nayak filed a formal complaint with the police, prompting an immediate investigation. The swift action by Mangalpur police resulted in Biswal's detention, highlighting their commitment to addressing issues of harassment and ensuring the safety of individuals within the community. The case has drawn attention to the ongoing concerns about workplace and personal safety for women.
