Odisha CM assures impartial probe in police brutality case involving Army officer
Bhubaneswar, Sept 23: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi met with an Indian Army officer, his fiancée, and her father at Loka Seva Bhawan in Bhubaneswar on Monday to discuss an alleged police brutality case. The meeting, held in the presence of Law Minister Prithviraj Harichandan, Deputy CM KV Singh Deo, and Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Suresh Pujari, aimed to address the concerns raised by the trio.
Chief Minister Majhi assured them of a thorough and impartial investigation into the incident, vowing that strict action would be taken against those responsible if found guilty. After the meeting, the Army officer’s fiancée expressed her gratitude, calling Majhi a "people’s Chief Minister" and "a people’s man."
In a parallel development, the Orissa High Court issued a directive prohibiting the media from publishing the names of the Army officer and his fiancée in connection with the Bharatpur police station assault case.
