Thunderstorms and heavy rainfall expected in Odisha: IMD alerts 17 districts

Bhubaneswar, Sept 21: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow warning for thunderstorms with lightning across several districts in Odisha for the next two days.
On Sunday, the IMD alerted residents of Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Kandhamal, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, and Kendrapara, predicting thunderstorms and lightning.
For Monday, the yellow warning has been extended to 17 districts, including Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, and Mayurbhanj. Residents are advised to remain vigilant due to the potential for isolated thunderstorms.
The IMD forecast indicates thunderstorms are likely in Nabarangapur, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, and Nayagarh on September 24. Additionally, a yellow warning for heavy rainfall has been issued for Ganjam, Gajapati, Rayagada, Malkangiri, and Koraput.
Heavy rainfall of 7 to 11 cm is expected at isolated locations in Malkangiri, Koraput, Gajapati, Nabarangapur, Kalahandi, and Rayagada on September 25 and 26.
