Cyclonic circulation to trigger widespread rain across Odisha, yellow warnings issued

Bhubaneswar, Sept 20: The monsoon trough at mean sea level currently extends through Bikaner, Shivpuri, Sidhi, Jamshedpur, Digha, and further southeast to the east-central Bay of Bengal.
A cyclonic circulation is expected to form over the north Andaman Sea and surrounding areas around September 21, with movement towards the northwest. Under its influence, a low-pressure area is likely to develop over the northwest and adjoining west-central Bay of Bengal by September 23, bringing light to moderate rainfall across Odisha over the next five days.

Day 1 (Valid until 08:30 AM IST on 21.09.2024):
Light to moderate rain or thundershowers are likely at a few locations in South Odisha and at isolated places in North Odisha.
Yellow Warning (Be Aware): Thunderstorms with lightning are expected in Malkangiri, Koraput, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Ganjam, Gajapati, Kandhamal, and Kalahandi.
Day 2 (Valid from 08:30 AM IST on 21.09.2024 to 08:30 AM IST on 22.09.2024):
Light to moderate rain or thundershowers are expected at a few places across Odisha.
Yellow Warning (Be Aware): Thunderstorms with lightning are forecasted for isolated locations in Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Mayurbhanj, and Keonjhar.
