Public darshan restricted at Puri Jagannath Temple during ASI survey of Ratna Bhandar
Bhubaneswar, Sept 20: The Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) is set to conduct a technical survey of the Ratna Bhandar at the Puri Jagannath Temple from September 21 to 23, using laser scanning technology. Due to the survey, public darshan (viewing) of the Holy Trinity will be restricted from 2 PM to 6 PM on these three days, according to the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA).
A 17-member team, led by ASI’s Additional Director General (Conservation and World Heritage) Janhwij Sharma, will oversee the survey utilizing advanced laser scanning methods.
During the three-day period, the temple will remain closed to the public during the specified hours for darshan.
The chief administrator of SJTA has requested the ASI to complete the survey by September 24, in preparation for the upcoming Dussehra and Kartik month celebrations.
This comes after a recent inspection by the ASI team, where they conducted a thorough examination and initial laser scanning of the Ratna Bhandar.
