Bhubaneswar, Sept 19: Popular Sambalpuri singer Ruksana Bano passed away on Wednesday night while receiving treatment at AIIMS Bhubaneswar for a prolonged illness.

Ruksana, known for her soulful voice and contributions to Sambalpuri music, fell ill about 15 days ago while shooting in Bolangir. She was initially admitted to Bhima Bhoi Medical College and Hospital in Bhavanipatna. However, as her condition worsened, she was transferred to a private hospital. When her health deteriorated further, she was moved to AIIMS Bhubaneswar, where she tragically passed away during treatment.

While it is suspected that scrub typhus, a bacterial infection, was the cause of her death, Ruksana's family has raised serious allegations. They claim that another Sambalpuri singer may have slowly poisoned her, leading to her untimely death. This accusation has sparked concerns among her fans and the local music community, adding a layer of mystery to the circumstances surrounding her death. An investigation may be underway to clarify the cause.
