Bharatpur IIC among five suspended over misconduct with Indian Army officer
Bhubaneswar, Sept 18: Five officers from Bharatpur Police Station, including Inspector-In-Charge (IIC) Dinakrushna Mishra, have been suspended for gross misconduct. This action comes after allegations that Major Gurvansh Singh of the Indian Army’s Sikh Regiment and his fiancée were mistreated and assaulted by police officers when they visited the station to report a road rage incident.
A notification from the Odisha Police stated that IIC Dinakrushna Mishra, SI Baisalini Panda, ASI Salilamayee Sahoo, ASI Sagarika Rath, and Constable Balaram Hansda have been suspended for their actions.
During their suspension, the officers will remain under the disciplinary control of the Bhubaneswar-Cuttack Police Commissionerate and will receive allowances as per Rule 90 of the Odisha Service Code.
It is reported that after the couple was harassed by miscreants during a road rage incident, they sought help at the station but were instead mistreated by the police.
