SPG reviews security at Janata Maidan ahead of PM Modi’s visit to Odisha
Bhubaneswar, Sept 14: A team of eight Special Protection Group (SPG) officers arrived at Bhubaneswar airport on Thursday to take charge of security preparations ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to the state capital on September 17.
Sources confirm that the SPG team will oversee the Prime Minister’s security from his arrival at the airport to his departure from the Janata Maidan venue. Today, the officers are set to visit the venue to inspect security arrangements.
Yesterday, a high-level meeting at Lok Seva Bhavan, chaired by the Chief Secretary, was held to discuss preparations for the visit. The DGP and IGP have been assigned the responsibility of maintaining law and order, while the Khordha District Collector has been tasked with ensuring all necessary arrangements are in place.
During the visit, Prime Minister Modi will officially launch the Odisha government’s flagship welfare initiative, the ‘Subhadra’ scheme, at Janata Maidan. The scheme has already seen an overwhelming response, with 45 lakh applications submitted by beneficiaries so far.
