Vigilance arrests Nuapada MVI with unaccounted cash
Bhubaneswar, Sept 8: The Vigilance today arrested the Motor Vehicle Inspector (MVI) of Nuapada, Bijay Kumar Behuria, and seized Rs. 1.32 lakh from his possession in a corruption case.
Acting on credible information, a vigilance team intercepted Behuria near Khordha Hospital Square while he was traveling from Nuapada to Bhubaneswar in a private vehicle. During the search, the cash, which Behuria could not satisfactorily account for, was recovered and seized along with the vehicle.
Simultaneous raids were conducted at Behuria’s residences in Nuapada, Jajpur, and Bhubaneswar, as well as his office chamber in Nuapada.
A case has been registered against Behuria under the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018. Following his arrest, Behuria was produced in court. The investigation into the matter is ongoing.
